Bert Prins has studied at the Art School of Berchem and Mortsel in Antwerp, Belgium.
The basis of Bert Prins’ inspiration lies in his every day surroundings: his family, friends, magazines. Everything around him is subject to vivisection by his brush.
In the process of painting, obsolete parts of he draft are disregarded and replaced by large vivid colour surfaces.
As a matter of fact this is the basic idea of “Pop Art”: to glorify the trivial the ordinary things around us and reduce them to the essentials in colour and form.
Bert Prins is not afraid to experiment; he likes to explore the boundaries of his possibilities: some paintings are more abstract than others; some others refer to a number of classical works by Monet, Degas, Da Vinci…and appear in a pop art version.
